My dad says a camaro z28 is too much car for me what do u think?

Im 16 i have a 79 silverado 5.7 liter 350 and it is bore 30 over the rest is stock but it will eat a new mustang gt all day and he has a 86 z28 with flowmasters performer eps edelbrock intake and headers a 750 edelbrock card and a small cam and it is a 350 aswell well iwant it and he said it is way too much car for me to handle since hes had it to 163 with pedal left over about a quarter of pedal left but i think id do fine with it it is posi trac with a 3.73 gear my truck has a 3.08 with a locker in it he also said that my truck will be wrcked the first time i open it up a lil so what do you think?
