American idol: Did anyone else think it was rude?

When Ryan Seacrest talked to the family of Kris and didn't talk to his wife or even have her standing there? She was sitting like 3 seats away! I have always been under the impression that when you get married, that person becomes more important, or at least AS important, as your parents! I was totally disgusted!
