Internet for a laptop ?

Okay .....i am thinking of getting a laptop for my birthday and would need it to have internet .........i have internet in my house and i know i can pick the wifi signals up but when i go on holiday to kerry and clare there is no internet in either house and there is no wifi spots around ................I have heard about the things that you put in the usb place from networks that you pay monthly for ..................but i want something that i can pay for once and use without monthly payements ................is there such a thing ........................(( i live in ireland by the way ))
